Achilles Tyres was founded over thirty years ago and is praised for its steadfast reliability, unparalleled quality, and superior performance. Its versatility has expanded into global markets, making inroads in the automotive industry, from passenger cars to competition vehicles.

When it comes to tyres and car maintenance and repair services, you can’t go wrong with Lube Mobile. We’ve been providing tyre and car service for decades and offer quality and convenience with more than 250 employees and a network of workshops nationwide.

Whether you’re looking to replace your Achilles tyres or try out other brands like Bridgestone, you can turn to us.

Vehicle Performance and Tyres

Before you decide to buy Achilles tyres, let’s discuss the influence that tyres have on the overall driving experience.

A vehicle’s tyres are responsible for bearing the vehicle’s weight, determining ride comfort, braking response, and steering response. To maintain top-tier road performance and safety, regular tyre inspections are essential.

You don’t have to do it yourself, either – Lube Mobile provides mobile tyre service in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and more. Even better, we only charge you for ordinary labour time, meaning the clock starts when we start working on your vehicle and not before.

With Lube Mobile, taking care of your car is simple, easy, cost-effective, and hassle-free.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know if my tyres are properly inflated, and why is it important?

Generally speaking, the pressure in your tyres drops by 1 to 3 PSI (pound-force per square inch) every month. Maintaining your tyre pressure regularly is a simple yet effective way to make sure your tyres last as long as possible. It’s a good habit to check your tyre pressure at least once a month and before long trips.

Here’s how to check your tyres to see if they’re properly inflated:

  • Check when the tyres are cold. Your car’s tyres should be ‘cold’ when you check them, meaning they haven’t been driven on for at least three hours. Driving heats up the tyres, and hot tyres can give a false reading.
  • Use a reliable tyre pressure gauge. There are different types of tyre pressure gauges, such as stick-type, digital, and dial. Of these, digital gauges tend to be the most accurate.
  • Check the recommended pressure. The recommended tyre pressure is often found on a sticker inside the driver’s door jamb or in the vehicle owner's manual. It's best to go by the vehicle manufacturer's recommendation if this information is available.
  • Compare the reading to the recommended pressure. If the tyre pressure is too high, release some air and check again. If it's too low, add air until the correct pressure is reached. Remember to check all tyres, including the spare tyre if you have one.

To get an expert’s opinion, turn to Lube Mobile. Our team of expert mechanics can do all this and more for your car. To get started, simply give us a call or make a booking online. Since we operate six days a week, we can usually be at your location within twenty-four hours of booking.

What are the signs that indicate I need new tyres for my vehicle?

Tyres are critical to our vehicle’s safety and performance. Your safety on the road depends on recognising the signs that your tyres need to be replaced. Here are some indicators to look out for:

  • Tread depth. The tread on your tyres should never fall below 1.6 mm in depth. If the tread depth has fallen below this measurement, it’s highly likely that you need to replace your Achilles tyres.
  • Blisters, bulges, or cracks in the sidewall. Look for damage to the sidewalls of your tyres. This can be a sign that your tyre needs to be replaced immediately.
  • Vibrations while driving. Some vibrations can be caused by an unbalanced tyre or alignment problems, but excessive vibration may indicate a problem with the tyre's inner parts. If you've addressed balance and alignment and still notice vibrations, it could be a sign you need new tyres.
  • Tyre age. Rubber deteriorates over time due to environmental factors like exposure to sunlight and heat. Generally, manufacturers recommend replacing tyres every six years, regardless of tread depth.

Regular inspections and proper maintenance can extend the life of your tyres. Rotate them regularly (ideally every 8,000 kilometres), check their inflation once a month, and ensure your vehicle’s alignment and balance are correct. If you notice any of the signs above, we encourage you to consider getting new ones.

Along with refitting, replacing, and otherwise servicing tyres, Lube Mobile carries a range of quality tyres for purchase. Enquire with us if you have any questions or brand preferences, such as Bridgestone tyres.

What should I consider when buying tyres online?

With the number of options online, it’s easy to be overwhelmed. Here are the details that you need to consider if you’re planning to shop online:

  • Vehicle suitability. Details like tyre size, speed rating, and load index are not just jargon; they help you determine if your desired tyres match up with your car. Achilles radial tyres, for instance, may be perfect for your friend’s car, but they might not be what your car needs. Always double-check tyre information against your vehicle's requirements.
  • Pricing. When it comes to tyre price points, you may be tempted to go with the lowest option available. However, you may have to account for shipping, handling, or tax costs; you’ll also want to verify that you’re dealing with official or legitimate stockists. On that front, Lube Mobile sources our tyres from official stockists in Australia.
  • Guided decisions. If you're torn between Achilles tyres and Bridgestone tyres, then you could use some professional advice. From comprehensive reviews to on-site inspections for your car, Lube Mobile can provide you with the expert insight you need.

By planning well and checking thoroughly, you can drive off with your ideal set of tyres, whether they’re from Bridgestone or another favourite. The road to the best tyres is paved with detailed research and informed choices. Happy driving!
