Ultimate Purchase Step: A Mechanic To Check Used Car

Just like visits to the doctor, vehicles could benefit from a good check-up or vehicle pre inspection from a professional.

Imagine this: you’ve spotted the perfect second-hand car, but there’s a twinge of doubt in your gut. Will it be a smooth ride or a pricey nightmare of unexpected repairs?

This uncertainty can sour your excitement, but there’s a way to secure your peace of mind and your wallet. Join us at Lube Mobile and let’s take a road trip to learn about the importance of hiring a mechanic to check used car deals, what can be included in this service, and much more.

A look under the hood (and everywhere else)

The comprehensive manual for a pre purchase car inspection

A pre purchase car inspection is when you hire a mechanic to check used car parts and the vehicle as a whole. Generally, it is an expert-led service that offers a meticulous examination of a vehicle’s status prior to finalising a purchasing decision.

This inspection is performed by an individual possessing the right blend of knowledge and experience in offsite and onsite automotive inspection services, making them your trusted third eye.

This process of vehicle inspection isn’t just about following a checklist. It’s about much more since you’re gaining confidence and assurance in your investment. It could even give you a chance to negotiate the price of a pre-owned car, provided that the seller allows for a mechanic to check the used car in their care.

At the end of the day, you wouldn’t want to put your money into a house without a thorough examination, right? The same goes for vehicles, so why run the risk with a car? Ensure that you hire a mechanic to check used car offers.

Every part matters

A checklist as a mechanic’s guide

An experienced mechanic armed with a detailed car safety checklist is the chassis, or base frame, of pre purchase car inspections. When you hire a mechanic to check used car deals, their checklist ensures a meticulous, organised inspection process, covering every nook and cranny of the vehicle.

Every point on the list is carefully analysed, resulting in a trustworthy and comprehensive onsite or mobile car inspection.

The specific elements of an in-depth inspection

An all-encompassing used car inspection consists of several key components working as gears, each providing information on the car’s overall health and functionality. Our Pre-Purchase Inspection here at Lube Mobile, for example, includes, but is not limited to, the following components:

  • Mechanical condition assessment: We will perform a thorough examination of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and other critical components and afterwards provide a detailed report on our findings.
  • Body and paint evaluation: Our team will also assess the vehicle's exterior condition, checking for any signs of previous accidents, rust, or other damage. In addition, we will provide insights into the quality of the paint job.
  • Interior inspection: We will also carefully examine the interior features and components, ensuring that all electrical systems, upholstery, and general comfort elements work as they should.
  • Test drive and roadworthiness assessment: The vehicle's performance and handling will be evaluated during the test drive. It will provide an opportunity to identify any potential problems that were not evident during the other stages of the inspection.
  • Comprehensive report: Following the inspection, we will provide customers with recommendations and a detailed report that outlines our findings to help buyers understand the condition of the vehicle before they purchase it. The report includes IRIS video, which is the mechanic's personalised video commentary on the vehicle, so the buyer doesn't need to be present. Instead, they can watch the video whenever is most convenient for them.

Remember, each mechanical check component contributes to your safety on the road, guaranteeing a safer ride and an even smarter purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I find a reliable mechanic to check a used car before purchase?

You can look around your area and find a trusted, accredited, local mechanic to check used car parts and the overall vehicle. However, scheduling a pre purchase car inspection can be a headache if you’re constantly on the go or even if you live in remote areas with a scarcity of mechanic shops in your vicinity.

Fortunately, you can look online for a service that goes directly to your location, and you can always check reviews to see if they’re dependable.

Here’s where Lube Mobile can drift right in as your reliable ally, as we offer convenient mobile car inspection services. Not only are we accredited by different major motor associations, but we also work six days a week and deploy proficient mechanics to complete your car inspection, repairs, or upkeep — all typically within twenty-four hours of your booking.

How much does hiring a mechanic to inspect a used car typically cost?

The cost of a pre purchase inspection for vehicles can differ based on the make and model. It can even vary depending on the service or where you consult a mechanic to check used car options.

For that reason, we at Lube Mobile believe in transparency, offering itemised quotes before any work starts, placing you behind the wheel when it comes to costs. You’ll be delighted to know that we charge solely for labour time, excluding any travel time on our end.

What’s more, our aim is to keep prices competitive and customer-centric. And should you need any repairs after a purchase, remember that our service comes with our standard 12-month/20,000km nationwide warranty covering both parts and labour.

Will the mechanic provide a written report of the inspection findings?

Not all mechanics provide a written report of the inspection findings. However, it’s important to note that written reports aren’t the end-all and be-all when you hire a mechanic to check used car parts and the overall vehicle.

While they can be helpful, not everyone is savvy with pre inspection car talk or automotive terms. This is why you should always consider a service that helps you understand the situation without any complex jargon or terms. Here at Lube Mobile, you can think of us as your friends riding shotgun, as we’ll explain everything in simple terms and language, so you’re aware and informed in the driver’s seat.

Your convenient, reliable and high-quality mobile mechanic solution
