Is A Pre Purchase Car Inspection Necessary? Here’s What You Need To Know

Are you on the hunt for a used car? Let Lube Mobile guide you. A pre purchase car inspection is your key to understanding the vehicle’s true condition and unmasking its hidden aspects.

As you read along, you’ll learn all the benefits of performing a vehicle check before buying and how virtual or onsite automotive inspection services can make the process hassle-free.

The perks of pre purchase car inspections

Calculating the true worth of the car

A pre purchase vehicle inspection is your secret weapon when buying a vehicle. It’s like a magnifying glass that reveals the vehicle’s true worth, often showing that the seller’s asking price overshadows the car’s actual value. It lets you calculate if the car’s price tag matches its worth and longevity.

This knowledge empowers you to negotiate effectively, potentially securing a better deal.

Maintenance cost reduction

A pre purchase car inspection is not just about identifying the car’s value – it’s also about foreseeing future expenses. By identifying worn-out parts that need replacement, these inspections can help you avoid unexpected repairs and reduce maintenance costs.

Authenticity verification: no more guesswork

A vehicle pre-inspection doesn’t just skim the surface. It delves deep into the car’s anatomy and verifies the quality of car parts, highlighting which components have been replaced and whether these are genuine or not.

At Lube Mobile, we even go the extra mile by checking the potential vehicle’s identification number (VIN) on the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR). This is to confirm that the car hasn’t been stolen, written off, or encumbered with unpaid debts. This way, you’re buying with peace of mind.

The power of informed decisions

Ultimately, a mechanical inspection is your key to making informed decisions. It can tick the last box on your ‘Should I buy this car?’ checklist. They provide peace of mind, save you time and money, prevent frustration, and help you find your dream car.

With a pre purchase inspection, you’re not just buying a car. You know you’re investing in a reliable and trustworthy vehicle.

The car inspection process

A pre purchase car inspection is a meticulous examination that covers cosmetic, mechanical, electronic, and safety conditions. Here’s what a pre-purchase inspection typically involves:

  • Mechanical condition assessment: A mechanical pre-purchase inspection goes beyond a superficial glance. It includes a comprehensive check of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and other vital components. The mechanic for car inspection ensures that everything is in optimal condition, providing a detailed report on their findings.
  • Body and paint evaluation: The exterior of the vehicle is assessed for signs of previous accidents, rust, or other damage. The quality of the paint job is also evaluated, adding to the overall confidence in the car purchase
  • Interior inspection: The inspection extends to the interior features and components, ensuring that all electrical systems, upholstery, and comfort elements are in good working order.
  • Test Drive: A thorough test drive is conducted to gauge the vehicle's performance and handling, uncovering any potential issues that might be hidden during a stationary inspection.

Lube Mobile’s mobile car inspection services

This visual guide is sent directly to your device via text message or email, allowing you to experience the inspection from anywhere.

After the inspection, we take our commitment to transparency a step further by providing a comprehensive report. This detailed document outlines our findings, complete with an IRIS video and expert recommendations.

But Lube Mobile isn’t just about car safety checks. We’re a one-stop shop for all your car needs, offering standard car servicing, non-urgent repairs, and diagnostics. Our transparent approach ensures you’re in control by providing itemised quotes before any work commences; this way, you know exactly how much your repairs will cost.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the most common issues found during a used car inspection?

When you call a Lube Mobile mechanic to check used car purchases, the most common issues they’ll discover often relate to the engine, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and tyres. These can include engine oil pressure problems, brake pad wear, worn-out shocks or struts, battery issues, and tyre tread depth concerns.

Can inspections guarantee no future issues?

While a pre purchase car inspection doesn’t provide an absolute guarantee against future issues, it does offer a comprehensive snapshot of the vehicle’s current condition. This not only identifies existing problems but also gives you a heads-up on potential future concerns that may arise from factors like wear and tear, accidents, or a lack of maintenance.

What qualifications should the mechanic performing the inspection have?

Qualifications for mechanics performing vehicle inspections may vary. But generally, the mechanic should be a licenced vehicle tester.

Lube Mobile’s mechanics, for instance, are among the best in Australia and are members of major motor industry associations in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia. This ensures we uphold the highest standards in pre purchase car inspection, delivering reliable and trustworthy services.
